Miguel’s passion for cooking, family, and life brings exuberant energy into The Stand’s kitchen every day.

Finding The Stand’s Family

Miguel Carillo, a native of Guatemala, was drawn to the bustling culinary scene of Houston, Texas, four years ago. With a fervent love for cooking and an insatiable curiosity for new culinary experiences, Miguel embarked on a service industry career that led him through the kitchens of five different restaurants before finding his home at The Stand Restaurant in The Woodlands. Here, he has proven himself to be an invaluable member of our kitchen team.

When he reminisces on his journey, Miguel speaks fondly of his early days at The Stand, where he found not just a workplace but a family. The camaraderie among his colleagues, coupled with the support and encouragement from his managers, fueled Miguel’s passion for his culinary path and inspired him to strive for excellence continually.

Inspiration Outside the Kitchen

When asked about significant influences in his life, Miguel credits his ten-year-old son and mother for inspiring him to push forward and pursue his dreams. Their unwavering support fuels his determination to succeed, both personally and professionally.

One significant moment for Miguel at The Stand was the passing of their manager, Chris. Despite the sadness that accompanied this event, Miguel found strength in the unity of his colleagues. He cherishes Chris’s impact on him and the valuable lessons he imparted. Chris’s charisma and dedication to his craft left a lasting impression on Miguel, reinforcing his sense of resilience and drive to always strive for greatness.

Alberto will often mention another figure who has left a lasting impact on his career — Robert Saucedo, a former employee at Triple Tap Ventures’ who directed all programming and film booking for TTV’s Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations, but now works within the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema corporate offices in Austin, TX. Even though Alberto did not work directly with him, Robert’s passion for the movie business and genuine love for his work inspired Alberto to view his role at Triple Tap Ventures beyond just numbers. This broader perspective ignited Alberto’s appreciation for the company’s mission, contributing to his complete understanding of the business.
